THE RISE OF DIGITAL INDEPENDENCE

Today, the internet is at a critical inflection point. It was built on a promise of democratizing information, building more human connections, and breaking barriers, but it has evolved into something we don't completely trust, can't fully benefit from, and sometimes fear.

At the heart of the issue is digital identity--your collection of personal data that's stored and shared across the internet. As the world becomes more connected and life moves online, our digital identities simultaneously expand and are exposed to even greater risk from breaches and mismanagement. We have too many accounts to remember and resort to using the same email and password for every one--the digital equivalent of handing out copies of your house key to everyone you meet.

But there's a solution for regaining control over our digital lives. Dashlane simplifies and secures your digital identities by helping people store, secure, and easily access accounts, personal data, and payment information. Across all platforms and devices, Dashlane's password manager and online protection tools are the only way to both prevent and protect against the risks of digitally storing and sharing your data. Available in 11 languages and trusted by more than 10 million people in nearly 200 countries, Dashlane is the complete solution for living safely and seamlessly online--at home, at work, and everywhere in between.

It is our mission at Dashlane to give people back the control they need to build a better internet and claim Digital Independence. Because the internet doesn't belong to anyone--it belongs to everyone. And it's on all of us to create a safer, more secure, and more responsible digital world.

Need talking points for a breach, hack, or cybersecurity story? Here are the three tips Emmanuel recommends for your viewers:

1. Strong Passwords. The ideal password is at least ten char acters long and contains random string of letters, numbers, and symbols. A long and complicated password ensures that hackers won’t have an easy time cracking your account.

2. Different Password for Every Account. This ensures that if one account is breached your other accounts remain secure. This is where password managers, such as Dashlane, are critical. The average person has 150 accounts that require passwords and it’s impossible to remember all of them. A password manager will securely store them and then automatically log you into your accounts, thus removing the need to remember any of your passwords.

3. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). 2FA, such as your phone’s fingerprint reader, adds a second layer of security to your accounts. This simple step significantly decreases the risk of someone maliciously accessing your account. Almost every major website and app provides 2FA.
